He's Just Not Into You!

Comedian Greg Behrendt and writer Liz Tuccillo have impressive credentials; they have both worked on ‘Sex and the City’. Whether this qualifies them to offer advice on dating and dumping, or being dumped, is debatable. That said, even if you don’t take ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’ as a serious self-help book it is very entertaining.

He’s Just Not That Into You’ provides hilarious, playful and honest nuggets of wisdom about male behaviour. It is designed to stop women wasting their time chasing men who aren’t into them, and help them to move on and find men who really are.Upfront and forthright, the message the book rams home is that men are cowards when it comes to telling women when they’re not interested, and women don’t want to hear it anyway. It emphasises that you owe it to yourself to read the signs, say: ‘Am I bothered?’ and move on. Stop being in denial. Stop making excuses to yourself. It’s not that he’s too busy, just got out of a relationship or is scared of intimacy; if he doesn’t ring you, he doesn’t bust a gut to see you, he only wants to see you when he’s drunk or he’s shagging someone else, it’s because he’s not into you.

If you’ve ever sat by the phone waiting and waiting for him to ring, if you’ve turned down invitations just in case he might want to see you, if you’ve ever dreamt up elaborate scenarios to explain his avoiding you or made excuses for his bad behaviour then read this book. That said, if you follow the advice to the letter you may find that no male will can fulfil your stringent expectations. He’d have to be perfect. A perfect man? A bit of an oxymoron, that.

Read the book for fun. Give it to your girlfriend when you haven’t got any sympathy or patience left to listen to her interminable whittering about the idiot she’s pining for. And read it if you find yourself wallowing in a vat of unrequited love. But don’t be too hard on your man, he may adore you and the fact he forgot your anniversary.....
